A name with its own sinister connotations, Nazi Field Marshal Irwin S. Rommel held his own as one of Adolf Hitler's most feared and formidable resources throughout the Second World War. Tagged as the "Desert Fox" of Africa, Rommel received an appointment to vie with British officer General Montgomery for control of North Africa. In the process, Rommel not only utilized his Afrika Korps to halt the Italian retreat, but succeeded in practically driving the Brits all the way back to Alexandria, Egypt. The documentary program The War File: The Desert War draws from a combination of resources including archival footage, CG-graphics, maps, and historical commentary to relay these tumultuous events to contemporary audiences. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
